BREAKING NEWS (About Humpback Whales)
Scientists have just documented something never seen before. And there's a twist!
If you’re like me, and you watch a lot of nature documentaries, then you might have developed a false sense of accomplishment about how much scientists know about humpback whales.
I mean, you could hop onto just about any streaming platform and watch incredible, high resolution footage of these gigantic creatures doing what they do all over the globe.
But the truth is that the ocean and its inhabitants remain a black hole in a lot of ways. And one of those missing pieces is… humpback whale sex.
Believe it or not, scientists had never seen it—until now.
That’s right, we have our first ever documentation of humpback whale sex! It’s between two males! And scientists couldn’t be more thrilled! THIS IS A HUGE SCIENTIFIC DEAL!
Of course, you can read more about all of this over at National Geographic, where my story is under the headline: “First-ever photos show humpback whales mating—and they’re males”
Hold on—more giant discoveries await!
Another gigantic (pun intended) story that dropped since last we talked? Scientists discovered that the green anaconda—heaviest snake in the ding-dang world—is actually composed of two genetically distinct species.
That’s right, we have a NEW SPECIES OF ANACONDA. And I got to write about that one, too.
Life is good.

Did you know bird brains are SMOOTH?
If you can’t tell, I’m making a concerted effort to start producing content over on TikTok. Yes, I’m fully aware of how silly that sounds.
But if you’d like to help an old dog learn new tricks, I’d love it if you went on over there and gave me a follow and a like and a re-post and a skadoodle and whatever else. That is, if you want some more of whatever this is!
