Introducing: "Frozen Worlds"
My latest science book for kids is now available for pre-order, and I have a discount code!
Hello, beautiful mammals! I come to you today with good news.
My newest, snazziest, iciest kids’ book yet is now available for pre-order from Barnes & Noble. It’s called FROZEN WORLDS, it’s illustrated by the brilliant Claire McElfatrick, and it’s all about the Arctic and Antarctic.
I’m talking puffins! I’m talking penguins! I’m talking krill!
Wait, krill? Yeah baby, WE GOT SOME KRILLLLLL!
If you’re wondering what krill is/are, well first, you need this book, but second, krill are the tiny, shrimp-like crustaceans that make the world go round. I’m serious. They’re the beady-eyed foundation of many a food web. They power penguins and beef up fin whales and fuel jellyfish! Krill also sequester carbon when they poop, and because they are legion, krill are thought to be responsible for keeping 39 MILLION TONS of carbon from entering the atmosphere EACH YEAR, which in turn helps avoid even more climate change.
And though many of us never think twice about them, if those krill were to suddenly disappear, it would be like another asteroid bubbling up from the ocean’s depths. So yeah, hug a krill today.
Deals! Deals! Deals!
Is he done talking about krill yet? Yes. But I reserve the right to wax philosophical about krill anytime in the future.
Anyway, don’t click away before I get to the best part! By entering the code PREORDER25, you can now save 25% when pre-ordering! (FROZEN WORLDS becomes available on March 21, fyi.)
To get the discount, you have to move fast though. The promo only runs through tomorrow (1/25 - 1/26). After which, you’ll be back to paying full price.
SO ORDER NOW, KRILL BUDDIES!
Animals Lost and Found
By the way, if you like the looks of FROZEN WORLDS but just can’t wait until the end of March, then you might also want to check out ANIMALS LOST AND FOUND, which came out last September. (When I start feeling like an unproductive slug, please remind me I wrote two kids’ books in 2022.)
ANIMALS LOST AND FOUND is all about animals, too, but follows the theme of extinction and conservation. It breaks all the animals up into four categories — endangered, recovering, extinct, and rediscovered. The illustrations, by Jonathan Woodward, are gorge. The animals are adorbs (and some of those featured will probably surprise you). Really, it’s just a great little primer for your budding scientist at home.
